The Human Rights sub-component is strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights. The DGF supports efforts to increase the awareness and demand for human rights through improved human rights monitoring and reporting by state and non-state actors.
The DGF recognizes advances made by Uganda in the promulgation of a constitutional framework that upholds human rights for all, the establishment of an independent Human Rights Commission, and the ratification of key international and regional human rights treaties and the efforts of all human rights actors in the country.
Support is targeted at activities that will increase knowledge and understanding among citizens about human rights entitlements and responsibilities, avenues to pursue them, the role of duty bearers and strengthening human rights actors with mandates to promote and protect human rights.
