CCEDU launches nationwide post-election feedback forums

On Friday 2nd September 2016, DGF Partner-the Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) launched its countrywide post-election feedback forums at Hotel at Tourism Institute in Jinja. The forums will be conducted in the districts of Jinja, Soroti, Masaka, Bundibugyo and Kampala. The launch was attended by about 100 citizens  including representatives of political parties, security agencies, judiciary, parliament, local government and cultural/traditional institutions and the Electoral Commission. Representatives of civil society actors, religious leaders, media representatives and members of the general public were also in attendance.  Participants were from the Busoga region districts of: Jinja, Mayuge, Iganda, Namutumba, Namayingo, Luuka, Kaliro, Buyende, Bugiri and Kamuli. The forum is intended to enable key stakeholders in the electoral process to reflect on the 2016 general elections as well as discuss findings of different election observer groups.  

A panel comprising of: Ms. Charity Ahimbisibwe (CCEDU); ASP Mugira Yeko Kato (OC Operations Jinja Central Police Station); Hajji Badru Ssebyala (Deputy RDC Mayuge); and Prof. Frank Nabwiso discussed the topic, “Post the 2016 Elections: Recasting the political and Electoral Reform Advocacy agenda”
