KACSOA was established in the year 2000. KACSOA is network of approximately 83 active NGOs and CSOs operating in Sebei sub-region. KACSOA started after a realization that the CSO fraternity in the region was working in isolation, with very limited collaboration and interaction and yet advocacy issues then required not only joint action, but also a strong common voice for any meaningful engagements with duty bearers. KACSOA envisions “a Ugandan Society where individuals exercise their full rights and potential”
Civic Education and Community Empowerment Project
This project aims at enhancing citizens’ participation in democratic processes through civic education and interventions that will lead to demand for improved service delivery. KACSOA will directly implement this project in three districts of Sebei including Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwo with more than 75% of the population being targeted. Key stakeholders include; Local leaders, Clergy and Civil Society Organizations. In order to achieve its project objectives, KACSOA will: build the capacity of citizens to engage meaningfully in democratic and governance processes and in holding leaders (elected leaders) to account for their commitments; conduct citizen education on rights, land, constitutionalism; organize various public dialogues to create awareness in communities and give them a chance to deliberate on rights and governance issues.
