Brief Profile: 

Platform for Labour Action (PLA) is a National Civil Society Organization founded in 2000. PLA is focused on promoting and protecting the rights of vulnerable and marginalized workers through empowerment of communities and individuals in Uganda. They target vulnerable and marginalized workers, majority of who are women, youth and children. This includes children in exploitative forms of work and those at risk of exploitation; vulnerable and marginalized workers infected and affected by HIV and AIDS, persons with disability, women, youth and the low income earners (below UGX. 400,000 or 120 US dollars per month) and other groups defined as vulnerable and marginalized.

Project title: Legal Aid to Indigent Persons, Vulnerable and Marginalized Workers

Brief description: PLA under this project seeks to provide comprehensive legal aid services and human rights information to poor, vulnerable and marginalized people; and increase protection and support to vulnerable and marginalized workers including women and young girls from recruitment into exploitative labor.

Geographical area: Dokolo, Amolatar, Lira, Iganga, Bugiri, Kaliro and Kampala districts.
