Brief Profile: 

Uganda Project Implementation and Management Centre (UPIMAC) is a Non-Governmental Organization registered with the National NGO Board, Ministry of Internal Affairs. The centre was founded in the year 1997 and started its operations in 1999.

UPIMAC operates countrywide through established regional, district and sub county networks with a head office in Kampala. UPIMAC vision “is a society where vulnerable communities, groups and individuals all enjoy their human rights” and the mission is “to promote the social, economic and political status and welfare of the poor and disadvantaged groups especially those living in the rural areas”. UPIMAC’s strategic goal is to “create an enabling environment where individuals especially the marginalized and vulnerable groups including women, youth and children can mobilize their own effort to harness holistic improvement and uplift their living standards”.

Consolidation and coordination of civic education delivery in Uganda

Project Description

The new 18 month project is designed: To provide information for increased confidence of citizens in claiming their civic and human rights through understanding and playing their respective roles and responsibilities; To equip men, women and youth with lobbying and advocacy skills for civic and human rights protection and better service delivery; To build the capacity of women and men to constructively engage elected and appointed leaders to deliver better services using acquired knowledge and skills. UPIMAC will; Produce and disseminate Civic Education IEC materials in consultation with Civic Education stakeholders with specific attention to addressing issues that are affecting the majority citizens in the country such as land grabbing, Gender Based Violence, Human Rights, Leadership and Accountability; Offer technical support to partner CSOs as part of capacity building on effective methods of delivering CE using the IEC materials developed by the Resource Centre; conduct citizen assembly/Peoples Parliament where community members will meet quarterly to meet leaders at district and sub-county level. In this forum community members will have an opportunity to share their views and complaints with the leaders with the aim of improving services delivery.
