Uganda Women's Network (UWONET)

Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET) is an advocacy and lobbying network of national women’s NGO’s and individuals, operating in Uganda. It was born out of the East African Women’s Conference held in Kampala in 1993 in preparation for the UN World Conference on Women in Beijing, China in 1995. UWONET’s membership is comprised of national Women’s organizations and individuals.

Project description: The project aims at improving representation and effectiveness of women in leading positions as elected leaders.

Sub-national coverage:  Busia, Butaleja, Wakiso, Buikwe, Mukono, Namayingo, Kibuuku, Bukedea, Mbale, Mityana, Mubende, Kiboga, Apac, Oyam, Kaberamaido, Rakai, Amolator, Kalangala, Kibale, Masaka, Kanungu, Kabale, Luuka, Namutamba, Kamuli, Mayuge, Bugiri, Amudat, Nakapiripirit, Omoro, Luwero, Mpigi, Nakaseka, Katakwi, Serere, Kumi, Lamwo, Agago, Yumbe, Nebbi, Koboko, Adjumani, Moyo, Zombo, and Arua districts.
